A Capital Disaster

"Why is my car different from other Fiats? asked Victoria, looking stonily at Stanley.

"My ex wife Bridget owned a Fiat, a real tank, a ramshackle job and its chromework always

looked drab, at least ten years old." "Also Fiats are known to quit on long journeys,"

he explained.

"Will I make it, if I go slowly and do not stop?"

"A risky business, it would be mad riding with such a noise" observed the mechanic

closing the bonnet.

"I ran a check and the hose rubber next to the radiator is swelling. Tonight I will get the rubber

lined and also put a new wheel on."

"Don't touch anything madam." "As custodian of the car I will fetch a van and give you a free

tow."

"Now this car has been in the wars!" a wistful Victoria exclaimed.
